My Journey to music

I was fortunate enough to study piano as a child, starting with Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music talent classes for children ages 5 to 7. This was my first proper chance to interact with music. I studied classical music at first, but I wasn't very interested in it. I experienced a couple periods of discouragement before finding the ideal teacher, who rekindled my love of music. I was introduced to more modern genres in the market by this tutor, and I started building my knowledge on these foundations. 

In addition to studying and applying music theory, I started listening to more contemporary and fusion music rather than just classical works. When I was in grades five through ten, I started learning about online music courses. I dug into these and enrolled in a few, especially the ones about producing music—specifically electronic music. It was at this point that my profound relationship with music became apparent. I became proficient with FL Studio, a music production software, and began composing songs with it. I seized the chance to learn DJing that same summer, and that course served as my entry point into the business.

I was able to comprehend the Vietnamese DJ industry better after three months of learning the craft. It's not well known; in fact, it's seen as more underground and is seldom ever brought up in casual discussions. I was really offended when I saw news stories portraying DJing as being associated with bad elements of society, especially as my parents were first apprehensive as well. All that changed, though, when I learned that Beauséjour University offered a Music Business program. Here, I could pursue my passion for music and play live, all while applying my academic background to create a solid groundwork for the future growth of the music industry.

I founded the record label Astral Radio in 2023 with three Vietnamese friends who were also DJs and Music Producer. Initially, we expected it to be a casual endeavor, but our common enthusiasm and determination drove us to develop a brand with thousands of fans. Honestly, the majority of them were DJs and industry friends I had met in Vietnam. Thankfully, a few of the songs I created were popular and had thousands of views. By the time the summer of 2024 came to a conclusion, from June to September, I had more over 150,000 SoundCloud listeners. This accomplishment demonstrated that I was on the correct track—the same one I had been meant to take for years.

I'm in the UK right now to study music business, but I'm also here to network and share expertise. It is my desire that we can all grow together and encourage one another here.
